Partnership with CWRU
The intimacy of a conservatory education along with the resources of a major research university, ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨â€™s partnership with CWRU affords students at both institutions a unique array of educational opportunities all situated within the rich cultural, artistic and scientific hub of Cleveland’s University Circle.
Formalized in 1969, the Joint Music Program provides a cooperative framework allowing students at both institutions to access and benefit from the respective strengths of both ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨ and CWRU. As a result, ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨ students complete their required music history coursework under the guidance of CWRU’s internationally renowned musicology faculty. In addition, ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨ students have access to the broader CWRU course catalog and have the option to complete their required non-music general education coursework at CWRU, to take a minor in any subject at CWRU or to pursue a dual degree conferred by both ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨ and CWRU.
For CWRU students, the Joint Music Program provides access to ±ÆÁ¨±ÆÁ¨â€™s distinguished faculty, with options to take music theory instruction, eurythmics, chamber music, individual applied lessons and even beginner group classes.
With access to a top-tier conservatory along with the academic breadth and rigor afforded by a major research university, this unique partnership affords students at both institutions the opportunity to pursue their interests, both musical and non-musical, while fashioning a career path that is broadly informed, multi-faceted and versatile.
